My name is Amanda, and I am the creator behind the Scrapbooking Bee.
I’m a mom of three who loves to get creative. I love to scrapbook, play with mixed media, create mini albums and cards. I create keepsakes for my family and friends.
I first got into scrapbooking when I was a teen. My mom hosted a Creative Memories party for her friends, and I was hooked. I cringe looking back at my first attempts. Such as cutting up the only photos of my great-grandma with little me with my decorative scissors. (shudder)
I really started scrapbooking to help me get through those first couple of lonely and difficult years after my first child was born. I was far away from my family and totally out of depth as a new mother. It gave me an outlet and hobby to help me feel a bit like myself during a difficult time.
I loved scrapbooking and paper crafting so much that in 2008 I decided to open up a shop in my town. It was such a great time. I made many new friends, had so much fun and sure learnt a lot.
Unfortunately, it was such a money pit, and I couldn’t keep it up. Sadly, the store closed in 2011.
This was a huge hit for me; I packed up all my supplies, sold whatever I could and quit scrapbooking for several years.
Over the past few years, I’ve slowly begun to rediscover what I loved so much about scrapbooking and paper crafting. And now I’ve gone online to help find some of that fun, inspiration and especially community that I’ve been missing since I had to close my shop. This is the reason why I created the Scrapbooking Bee.
I want this to be a place for those who love scrapbooking, card making, paper crafting, or memory keeping, with an especially strong community aspect.
Whether you’ve been scrapbooking or paper crafting for years or just getting started, or something in between, you are welcome here.
I am so thrilled that you’ve chosen to visit my tiny little corner of the internet.
